AMPARO HURTADO

Amparo Hurtado Albir studied Modern Languages ​at the University of Valencia. Her professional orientation was, in principle, philological. However, in 1978 radically changes her orientation: She discovers translation and the problems generated when it is taught.

Traductologist and professor at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona. Nowadays, she is an obligatory reference to the theory of translation and University Training of Language Professionals.

WHO IS SHE?

She is a traductologist and professor at the Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona. She is from Spain and she studied Modern Philology in the University of Valencia.

 

She discovered translation in 1978 and in that time she decided to center his life in that profession.

  • Linguistic amplification

WHAT IS TRANSLATION FOR HURTADO?

The translation has a communicative purpose, breaking the barriers due to linguistic and cultural differences. A Textual operation that performs between texts not between languages. And finally, a Cognitive activity, which is a mental process to understand the meaning of the text.

ABOUT US

Translation Course started in 2010 as part of the Modern Languages Program Curriculum. It is addressed to those students who want to go further particularly in this field. This  elective has been mainly designed  to reflect upon the  theoretical as well the practical aspects that deal with direct and reverse translation. It is pretended that the learner will improve his/her translation competence.
